Thank you to my great buddy Kortoney Gaff, who snapped a photo of this M2008 he was making a call on, at the front desk of the Marriott hotel in St. Thomas this past weekend on vacation!
This is one of the most common and most rugged Nortel telephones sets, also referred to as the Aries II sets. These sets were in production from 1989 to 2003, and were some of the most common digital multi like Pbx phones in the world.
Many times, these phones were used to replace 1a2 key phones that sat in front of a Pbx. These phones closely resembled the button layout of a 1a2 telephone with the 8 like appearances and a red hold key. Unlike the 1a2 phones, these sets along with the predecessor M2009 and QSU wedge sets, has electronic ringers, RLS Release button, speaker, and a program button. And the big kicker that differentiated from the 1a2, a display that shows caller ID, outgoing dialing and trunk information.
Thanks Kort for posting this great phone!
