My good friend, who is a manager at a Madewell location here in Illinois, sent me a picture of her cool Nortel T7316E digital telephone, plugging away and working well at her store in the North Suburbs of Chicago.
In 2006 J.Crew introduced Madewell, “a modern-day interpretation of an American denim label founded in 1937. Per one of my earlier posts, J. Crew has always been one of my favorite mall retailers. Their fashion is quite sophisticated, but yet timeless. I hope to get a khaki blazer sometime soon, but the $385 price for a blazer was a bit steep for me. I guess I will have to wait till fall.
Most J. Crew stores use these same Nortel phones. J. Crew has been an exclusive Nortel customer for many years and it will be interesting to see who they might go with once they don’t want to use the legacy Norstar sets anymore? Let’s hope it could be E-MetroTel who will continue to support their Meridian phones for years to come. Back in the early 1990s, I remember one J. Crew outlet in Wisconsin used Comdial Executech telephones…..very old school….but eventually they upgraded to Nortel Meridian.
This T7316E telephone is a very popular phone in the retail and restaurant industry. As seen in an earlier post this week, the “E” stand for the enhanced speakerphone/handsfree button on the bottom of the phone. It’s also interesting to notice in the photo below, the Hold and Release keys labeled with notes next to each button, as the pictorial images on the buttons might be a bit confusing. There is also a lot of other labeled information on the phone that I blocked out as I don’t want to give away any secrets.
So yet, another wonderful Nortel phone, still in use, still alive!
