On my University telephone quest for figuring out what digital or IP phones campuses across the USA are using, I discovered this Avaya central answering position at the Visitor Center of OU in Norman. I was happy to see my second favorite to Nortel, an Avaya 9608G set with an attached BLF module named a BM12. As posted in my earlier posts, the Norman campus is also using Nortel IP sets as seen at the National Weather Center.
What also was nice, was the staff at the visitor center. They swarmed me with local restaurant recommendations and information about the university and even a crimson and cream “GO OU” t shirt! This Purdue guy was quite happy being treated like a best friend at OU.
Thank you OU!
And now onto the phone. It is operating on an Avaya Aura large scaled PBX platform at OU, but it could also work on a small IP Office platform as well.
