This past weekend my pretty girlfriend and I took a trip to New Buffalo, Michigan. New Buffalo is across the lake from Chicago and is a frequented by Chicagoans who want to get away from the city and enjoy the small town charm on the sugar sand beaches of Lake Michigan.
One of the mainstays of the community is Barneys Market, which has existed since 1987. I remember the grocery store as a child, it was a super small grocery store that had extremely fresh foods that catered to the Chicago yuppies. I recall happy memories of shopping there with my parents and sisters.
Around 2000, the owners completely gutted the old building, opened up the old low ceiling and exposed the structure and added onto the store. It’s definitely worth the trip the next time you are in New Buffalo. Barneys carries a whole section of unique Michigan products including a really awesome cherry salsa from Esch Road farms which is near Sleeping Bear Dunes. They also carry hundreds of Michigan craft beers in the extensive liquor section.
The photos here in the post are of either an Avaya 1408 Digital Telephone or 1608 IP telephone. The digital and IP phones look nearly identical, and I didn’t have a chance to check the cord in the back of the telephone. More than likely this set is connected to an Avaya IP Office. Lakeshore Foods, which owns Barneys, also own Al’s Market in the Michigan City/ LaPorte area of Indiana and I’ve seen Avaya phones in their stores as well.
