Today my Mother had a false alarm of a serious health condition and luckily just was in the need of some re hydration. She is resting and recovering now.
The hospital, Munster Community Hospital, has been a part of my life for many years. I volutneered there during the 1990s while in high school and college. I worked in the Radiology Department and yes! I worked on answering, transferring and paging phone calls in that department.
Guess what telecom system this hospital had and still has! A Nortel PBX, originally an SL-1 with wedge sets to now having a highly advanced CS-1ooo, with an additional IP Wireless add on switch from Ascom.
Ascom handsets are IP-Dect Wireless handsets designed for the heavy use in a hospital environment. The Ascom system may be integrated with IP-PBXs via a direct SIP interface or Ascom gateways. This means the Ascom device can interface with many PBX’s from Nortel to Cisco to Avaya and others.
To see all that these phone’s can do, I would click on the link below to go to Ascom’s website. These phones are way more than just a basic wireless handset. They can trigger important codes in hospitals, even access the hospital paging system in an emergency, etc.
