My friend David in England sent me a photo of one his Nortel IP phones connected to my Emetrotel UCx here in Chicago. It’s pretty amazing to think that this phone is connected back to my main UCx here in Chicago by such a great distance of 3805 miles. Back in the old days of telecom, even in digital telecom age of the 1980s and 1990s this was unheard of, unless you worked for Nortel, which began experimenting with an internet type of network as early as the 1970s
This is the last generation of the i2004 made by Nortel. These phones were eventually surpassed by the 1100 and 1200 IP phones that are still manufactured by Avaya today.
