Phone of the Day: Northern Telecom Unity Analog Single Line Telephone at the Cathédrale Marie-Reine-du-Monde in Montreal

In keeping with my recent trip to Montreal, I am going to post of a photo of a simple Analog Nortel set that was popular in the 1980s and 1990s, it’s the single line Unity set manufactured by Northern Telecom. I saw three or four of these sets on my trip, so I will post more of them in posts to come.

TThese were eventually phased out in favor of the M8001 and M8003 single line sets introduced in 1992-1993.

I remember seeing these sets in various locations throughout Chicago in the 1990s, including the Museum of Science and Industry (now 100 percent Cisco IP phones) and at Homebase, which became Home Depot. I thought Unity was some knock off brand, not actually manufactured by Nortel.

The Basilica is absolutely one of the most beautiful churches I’ve ever been in.
