Phone of the Day:Al’s Charhouse Nortel M7310 Norstar phone

It seems like to me, every great restaurant has a great phone system and Al’s Charhouse is no excpetion with their Meridian phones!

Today’s post is showing a Nortel Norstar M7310 digital set with Ameritech branding, at Al’s Charhouse, 32 S La Grange Rd, La Grange, IL(Phone:708-354-6255).  This evening, I had the best steak I’ve ever eaten there!  I ordered a T-Bone/Shrimp combo and the plate came with an amazing amount of food…..roasted carrots, squash, broccoli, and then a baked potato with bacon, sour cream and butter….AND a full salad, AND the steak itself was amazing….AND!!!! the Garlic Shrimp is a must have.  The Shrimp comes smothered in garlic on a pile of amazing rice pilaf.  It was amazing, all topped off with a wonderful margarita.   My meal was around $40 including the margarita with Patron.  But I have 2 meals totake home with me!

The prices are also reasonable.  You can get a 56 ounce Porterhouse steak for $37 with all of those amazing sides!  I am going to try that next time.  I will definitely be back for more.

Now for the Nortel phone.  They have a Norstar digital set that came with the private branding from the former precursor to the “New ATT”, Ameritech.  ATT Midwest is still technically Ameritech in their company back office, but ATT resounds better with everyone.  This phone system must have been installed in the late 1990s during the Nortel/Ameritech heyday!   Similar branding could be found from Bell Canada, Sprint, Bell South, US West, etc.  Seeing that the host stand is extension 25, I am thinking the system is a DR1-5.1 6×16 or 3×8 due to the fact that the DN number is only 2 digits.

It looks like they take pretty good care of their system and the phone is in good condition.

If anyone has questions about the restaurant, feel free to contact me at

Thanks for an Awesome meal Al’s!
