Phone of the Day: Avaya 1408 Digital Deskphone Saks Style

Up on the 7th Floor of the Saks Fifth Avenue on Chicago’s Magnificent Michigan Avenue mile, is a great bar to enjoy the great store design and beautiful women at the store.  It’s called Sophie’s.  I grabbed a few photos of the newly installed Avaya 1408 Digital Deskphones.  Interesting enough, Saks used to be a huge Nortel customer with Meridian1 systems in all of their stores.  Most of their stores and former banners under Saks still contain the Meridian1 phones in their stores.

The 1408 is a sleek looking set with a blue display and dark blue lettering.  The phone itself still contains the 8 1980s sounding warbly ATT Merlin ring tones….but I think with certain firmware  you can have updated ring tones as well…this phone didn’t have that package.  The host and I explored the ring tones.

The phone is ideally suited for the IP Office, but if these phones are tied into a large 7 floor department store system, I am assuming it’s a larger Call Manager or Aura switch.

The phone still isn’t a Nortel 11xx phone, but it is still better than most of the other competition out there today.
