Today’s Nortel Digital Telephone comes to you from El Taco Real Restaurant in Hammond, IN on Hoffman Street a few blocks east of Calumet Avenue US 41. This is one of my top favorite Mexican Restaurants. The friendly staff greets you and once seated they place a tray of crispy non greasy tortilla chips, pico de gallo, queso fresco cheese and jalopeno peppers on your table. Then the margaritas are awesome….both equally sweet salty and sour. The entrees are all very authentic and very flavorful. Try the Queso Fundido with Chorizo for a great appetizer. Then for dinner, I usually order off the Ala Carte menu so I can get a taste of everything from Chiles Rellenos to Enchiladas Suiza to the Nino Plate of Rice, Beans and Tortillas.
They have had a Nortel Norstar system for almost 10 years now and one day I came in there and they had a broken Norstar phone that had fallen off the wall from too many people bumping into it. I know all of the friendly staff very well and they asked me if I knew where they could get another. I found another phone in my stockpile and was able to solve their problem by placing a T series phone flat against the wall so no one would bump into the phone. They were so happy that I donated a phone, they made up some wonderful entrees for me to take home!
Last week, I recently replaced a handset cord that needed to be longer…..and I snapped a picture of the main phone.
So when you are in Northwest Indiana, this restaurant is a must see and must taste!
